“This isn’t life in the fast lane, it’s life in the oncoming traffic.”
Saturday morning rolled around and after a late night staying up to give Olivia her feed, she rewarded us by sleeping through the night and then going back to sleep after she got up for her morning feed so we could have a bit of a lazy morning. After collecting our order of meat from a friends house, and making sure it was all frozen, it was time for me to head back up the loft and carry on putting loft board down, that was until our friend Tracy turned up with her little boy, a welcome distraction! After she went, there was time to get back in the loft and put a few more boards down before we headed out to meet more friends for a curry.
It was at this point that the day stopped running smoothly!
Firstly, as we have now moved house, the satnav gave us a slightly different direction to our friends house than we nprmally take, which involved us driving through the city centre to join the motorway, rather than take the short drive down to the nearest motorway junction. With what must have been the equivalent of monday morning rush hour traffic piling into town, it seemed to be taking forever to get through it and then as soon as we were on the motorway we hit the dreaded 50mph zone, which seemed to go on forever, where there are no roadworks going on and no obvious sign of anything actually happening at all. The traffic and general road safety was noting short of appalling, so many bad drivers on the road. It still amazes me how we got there without anyone being involved in an accident. So going there, we should really have taken motorway. Coming home we decided to do just that and got stuck in a mile long queue as three lanes tried to get down to just one, clearly on the way home, avoiding the motorway was our best plan. Oh well, hindsight and all that. I’m just so grateful that Olivia fell asleep in the car and we were easily home before she wanted her next bottle. I am always grateful, and it still never fails to amaze me just how well behaved she is when ever we go out! Thanks for everyone who has shown concern regarding how she has been feeling with this grotty cold, the good news is that its pretty much gone now!
So much more I wanted to write tonight, but I just can’t keep my eyes op……zzzz
