“Witch and ghost make merry on this last of dear October’s days.”
Decided to get up early with a gurgling, cooing baby so that the wife could sleep in a bit this morning. Around lunchtime we had one of the wife’s friends turn up with her son, and so we headed out for lunch in Harborne. We had a lovely afternoon, with some great food at The Junction, which has seen a massive overhaul since the days I used to work behind the bar many years ago. Olivia was, yet again, an absolute star for us, as we barely heard a peep out of her the entire time we were there! After we got home and our friend left, it was back to the task of putting more boards down in the loft, after first popping out to the shops to pick up a few bits. The loft is slow going, but a getting these boards and insulation down is an absolute necessity at this time of year with temperatures struggling to get into double figures most days, and only set to drop over the next few weeks as winter slowly approaches. While I was out at the shops I did pick up some sweets for any kids that came knocking on the door, but we didn’t have one! Not a single child! I thought a quiet little cul-de-sac like ours would be the perfect place, but then the weather hasn’t helped as it did start raining. Oh well, I’m sure the wife won’t complain at the sudden abundance of sweets and lollipops!
